You Are A: Turtle!
These reptiles, famous for their hard outer shells, spent their days roaming for food and relaxing in the water. As a turtle you are not very speedy, nor are you soft and cuddly. You tend to hide in your shell and you aren't much of a sprinter, however you are as cute as you are fascinating. You were almost a: Groundhog or a Chipmunk
You are least like a: Monkey or a PuppyCute Animal Quiz!
Diary: Saturday/Sunday 17-18/09: Slimelight is fun
Got up surprisingly early on the Saturday in order to get ready for Slimelight, and thus had plenty of time to be somewhat casual about getting organised to go down Slimelight, thus I watched some television, went on the computer. Couldn’t get my email to work properly though, which was rather annoying. I’ve been logging into it via various webmail sites in hopes I can restore my old hard disc later on and thus not have to create a new mail folder et cetera. However, it’s becoming clear to me that such a thing might take a while to happen, and thus it might be best for me to just set up my Outlook Express once again *sigh*
Anyway, got myself on a train to London and arrived a little earlier than would have been preferable, but got to be better than arriving too late. Got to Waterloo at eight with not much to do, could have gone to the Devonshire Arms but didn’t want to bother spending too much on the Underground so just went to Angel and sat down to read for a while, good to get a chance to get some reading done in any case.
Headed in pretty much upon it opening, and ‘twas very quiet, but oh well. Wasn’t sure of the reason at first but the downstairs bar was closed and we we’re redirected upstairs, where they were playing Trad, which was a bit odd to hear on the top floor. Turns out the Trad floor had been moved to the top floor because they’d put a plane in the bottom floor, along with lots of lights. Guess it would have been a bit of an effort to get it all the way upstairs :o) Didn’t see much of it myself, as I didn’t spend much time in there, but there are pictures posted online for anyone that wants to see them.
Anyway, busied myself for dancing on the top floor for the first hour and a bit more until people started turning up, then was doing a mix of dancing and socialising as seems to have become more regular for me (rather than when I first started coming and I’d just dance all night and be asocial, which was also fun)
Met up with the fab
Emily seemed nice, little nervous because of not knowing many people but pleasant and I made sure to keep her company for the first part of the night, later on she seemed to be enjoying herself anyway so left her be :o) I’m sure given a few visits she’ll settle in very well.

Sat down with
Bumped into a new friend, Moranna, from Vampirefreaks whom I’d chatted to about philosophy online, which was nice. She was sitting nearby and said hello to me whilst I was sitting with Emily, so we chatted for a while, was nice, always good to say hello to a new face :o)
Watched some Ren and Stimpy on the film screen downstairs with Macabre_Face, which was nice. Saw him on a few separate occasions through the night.
Mikau was about, didn’t speak to me but seemed much happier this week so all good there, glad to see that her emotions have settled a bit, still uncomfortable with how things went last time I saw her but hopefully she just needs time to learn to manage her emotions better, we were all young once after all. :o)
Oh, and met Jen for the first time, saw her a few times through the night and we were dancing together on the middle floor towards the end of the night, again, nice to meet a new face. Never the same when you’ve only talked to someone online, I don’t feel like I really ‘know’ a lot of people I’ve met at Slimes, but I feel I know them better than when I only knew them online.
Oh… and how could I forget, some nice transvestite whose name I forget (something beginning with P?) came talked to me whilst I was sitting with
So, lots of nice people to chat to and spend time with, and good music to dance to, couldn’t really ask for more than that really could I?
Got outside and sat down, not entirely sure what I was going to be doing next. Blood-Driven helped sort out my make-up which was no doubt in a bit of a terrible state by then (didn’t help that I’d forgotten to bring my make-up bag with me), she smoothed out my foundation a bit for me, which was nice of her, but I still took it all off soon after anyway.
So we all wondered around Camden for a while with
Then
Hopefully this weekend when I’m at Slimes again :oD I hear they’ve extended the licence now as well, drinks are now being served until five in the morning, not that it makes much difference to me as by then I’m going through my bottle of wine anyway :o)
After getting some food in Camden, I made my little way to Waterloo, which turned out to be very crowded. A number of trains had been delayed in the direction I was going because of a fault down at Basingstoke, so a lot of the trains were nearly an hour late. I was looking for a Weymouth train and there was a second one coming only ten minutes after the delayed one. Had to stand about a bit longer, but decided it would be sensible to not get on the first train and to wait the extra time, that train was going to get about double it’s normal share of passengers so I thought I’d let them all get on that one, and I’d wait for the second one as it would be likely to be much more empty, and thus much more comfortable for a little James to sit down on. :o)
I got the feeling I might have made a mistake when they declared the second Weymouth train was delayed once the first one had left… but it all worked out as it didn’t get seriously delayed, and thus I sat down and had a fairly pleasant if somewhat tired journey home. Managed to forget my bottle of dr. Pepper on the train though, was a bit silly but I guess I was tired, just feel lucky I had nothing more expensive in the bag really :o)
Got a lift home from mother once I arrived, and stayed up until four in the morning watching television and mucking about on the computer, before taking a much-needed shower and getting into bed :o)
Diary: Monday 19/09: Usual post-slimes emptiness
Well, today was mostly me slacking about, after staying up late last night I didn’t get out of bed until half-five. I could have gotten up earlier, I did wake up earlier but it’s just one of those (in my case rather common) days where I just end up not being bothered getting out of bed, so just lie about and eventually pass back into sleep. This then repeats a few time and it quickly ends up that you’ve spent most of the day in bed, oh well.
Rest of day rather predictable, television (was an interesting program on about whether the popular English identity as Anglo-Saxon was really an accurate picture of English history), and computer, yay for me! :o)

Anyone that hasn't seen the Tales of The Blode need to report very quickly to Joel Vitch's site. Watch them all in order, the first one doesn't have voices but the rest do. They're very good, I'm not entirely sure why I like them so much, they just have this wonderful feel and theme to them, without being terribly serious. - david bowie:
Good Artist, and who doesn't like Labyrinth? :o) - frank herbert:
Wrote Dune, as well as the numerous sequels. I've read the entire run of Dune books (not including the pre-history books written by his son that I only just recently heard about), and the original by his son (wait, was just searching online for a full list of the books, and apparently there's one by Frank Herbert which is the very last one of the series (by him) called 'Chapter House', I've never read that one... shall have to seek it out :o)
Anyway, it's my second favourite book after Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. It has a similarity with Tolkien in that the world it is set in is so very well created, it's like a whole new world. Unlike LoTR, it's a Sci-fi book and not a fantasy book. It's about forty or so years old now, plays with concepts to do with ecosystems that would become somewhat common in sci-fi after that, as well as mysticism and politics. Also, when reading it one ought to bear in mind that it was written in a time where there was a big connection being drawn between drugs like LCD and mysticism/enlightenment :o) - industrial:
As in the music, enough said really. I don't listen to a ton of it, and I have wide eclectic tastes anyway, but I like having some of it on my hard disc to play every now and then :o) - libertarianism:
My main political ideology, in civil matters at least. When trying to create a political ideology one needs to work out the basics of political philosophy, and that's to work out why we ought to have a government.
For some people it might be a tool to impose their moral/religious beliefs on others, for some it's a tool for personal accumulation of power, other theories are more pleasing to modern sensibilities. Often, people try to argue the government should exist on utilitarian grounds, it's there to make a happier world, and to an extent, I like that. However, I don't actually believe that laws should be created directly to make people happy, firstly because the government is not always good at judging what makes people happier (would anyone really want the government to tell them how to live a good happy life?), and secondly because it's open to corruption. You give the power for the government to interfere in people's lives to make them happier you give a lot of power to government, and governments always tend to corruption.
Hence I find that the government should exist to bring about 'liberty', not complete liberty, but a greater amount of liberty than found in anarchy (one has freedom from law in anarchy, but we have no freedom from one another).
An introduction of a law should increase the individual's liberty to live a life as is desirable to them. Removing the liberty to murder stops some people from doing what they want, but that is a small reduction in a few people's liberty given the enormous (well, absolute) harm it does the liberty of the murdered.
This is why law should only be passed on social matters, not to make us happier, not to protect us from ourselves (as is the case with laws against recreational drugs, sexual lifestyles, bad diets), or to impose morality upon us (whether to do with sexual lifestyle, concepts of dignity, religious beliefs, et cetera).
If it doesn't harm other people's ability to live their life in the way they desire, then there is no reason to legislate. - parties:
Well, who doesn't like parties? Some parties I can feel out of place with, if I don't know many people et cetera, but gathering together with friends is always good, surely :o) - salad fingers:
On of David Firth's Works, and a very good one. It's this disturbing and somewhat humorous series of cartoons, very surreal. It's debatable whether or not there's any meaning to them, but I think that they have certain themes and ideas that are increasingly getting built into the series even if they weren't there before, I rather suspect Mr. Firth reads the forum he set up for people to talk about what Salad Fingers means and uses it for ideas to further the series. - starcraft:
A computer game by Blizzard. It's one of the 'classic' point and click real-time war strategy games. It's also got a fairly entertaining background, which each of the three races (Terrans, Zerg, and Protoss) having a background. Indeed, there are novels based on the Starcraft background, I have three of them in my book collection, I just haven't gotten around to reading them yet.
Discovered the game when I was at a 'computer camp' thing when I was younger and on holiday (yup, I'm a geek). Very fun, nice to have friends around and play it over the LAN every now and then. - trad goth:
Both the music and the aesthetic, fabulous :o) - writing:
I like to write about all sorts of things. I write about my life, about my thoughts, I write fiction and poetry. There's something about writing things down that seems to give it more permanence than merely thinking about them, and if I so desire to afterwards, it makes them easier to share (trying to explain things vocally can be awkward, writing is so much more eloquent)
